Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- In one bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the egg and almond extract, blending until smooth.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a dough forms.
- Press the dough into a greased 9x13 pan, brushing the top with milk and sprinkling with sliced almonds.
Baking
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until the edges are golden.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before drizzling with icing.
Icing
- Mix powdered sugar with milk to create icing consistency and drizzle over the bars.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For a richer flavor, swap half the almond extract for vanilla extract, or add chocolate chips or coconut flakes for variety.
