Preparation
- Gather all your ingredients and preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until fluffy.
- Add the sunflower seed oil and mix well.
- In another bowl, whip the fresh liquid cream until soft peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the egg mixture.
Mixing the Batter
- Sift in the flour and baking powder, mixing until smooth.
- Fold in the cubed golden apples and two-thirds of the chocolate chips.
Baking
- Transfer the batter to a greased and floured 8-inch circular mold.
- Arrange slices of apple and sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for about 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool before transferring to a cooling rack.
Notes
This cake can be served with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days or in the fridge for a few extra days.
