Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
- In another bowl, mix sliced apples with granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Cut cinnamon rolls into quarters. Layer half in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, followed by half the cream cheese mixture and half the apple mixture. Repeat layers.
Baking
- Bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown on top.
Serving
- Serve warm so the cream cheese is soft and the caramel is glossy.
- Slice into squares and plate each piece with an extra drizzle of caramel and a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of lightly whipped cream.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme or a dusting of extra cinnamon.
Notes
Let cool to room temperature and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat individual slices in the microwave or oven. For a crisper top, broil for a few minutes before serving.
