  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups diced apples (about 2-3 medium apples) Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for more flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Crumble Topping
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, diced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Caramel Drizzle
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the diced apples gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Crumble Topping
  1. To make the crumble topping, mix flour, brown sugar, cold diced butter, and cinnamon in a bowl until crumbly.
  2. Sprinkle the crumble over the batter in the loaf pan.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack.
  3. Once cooled, drizzle caramel sauce over the top of the loaf cake before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve sliced on a plate, drizzled with extra caramel sauce. Pairs well with tea or coffee. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to three months.
