Ingredients

For the pastry
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed) Ensure pastry is thawed before use.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Fresh lemon juice is preferred.
  • Flour (for dusting) Use as needed to prevent sticking.
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional) Optional for serving.
For the filling
  • 2 apples (red ones like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well) Choose firm apples for the best results.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Adjust based on taste preference.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Add more for a spicier flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the apples in half and remove the cores. Cut the apples into very thin slices.
  3. In a bowl, mix the apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Let them sit for about 10 minutes.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into long strips (about 2 inches wide).
Assembly
  1. Take a strip of pastry and lay it flat. Place a row of apple slices on one edge of the pastry, overlapping them slightly.
  2. Fold the other half of the pastry strip over the apples to cover them.
  3. Carefully roll the strip from one end to the other, creating a rose shape. Place the rose in a greased muffin tin.
  4. Repeat with the remaining pastry strips and apple slices.
Baking
  1. Bake the pastries in the oven for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Let them cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.

Notes

Best served warm. Enjoy with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or drizzled caramel sauce. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days or refrigerate for a week.
