  • 4 pieces apples Choose firm varieties like Honeycrisp or Fuji.
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter For brushing.
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon sugar Mix of cinnamon and sugar.
  • 1/2 cup caramel Plus more for drizzling.
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans Add more for garnish if desired.
  • to taste serving Vanilla ice cream For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice off the top 1/4 of the apples and scoop out the cores.
  2. Using a paring knife, make a deep cut around the center of the apple.
  3. Flip the apples over and make narrow cuts all around, ensuring not to cut through the bottom.
  4. In a small bowl, combine melted butter and cinnamon sugar; stir well.
  5. Brush the apple surfaces generously with the butter-cinnamon mixture.
  6. Fill the center of each apple with caramel and chopped pecans.
Grilling
  1. Wrap the prepared apples in foil and grill for about 15 minutes until tender.
Serving
  1. Serve the grilled apples immediately and unwrap at the table to let steam escape.
  2. Top each apple with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with additional caramel.
  3. Add extra pecans or a sprig of mint for visual appeal.

Notes

Leftovers can be wrapped tightly and refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat on low heat on the grill or in an oven at 300°F.
