Ingredients

For the tartlet shells
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 pinch salt
For the blueberry filling
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
For the cream cheese frosting
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For garnish
  • Powdered sugar
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Lemon zest

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, and a pinch of salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the egg yolk and cold water, stirring until a dough forms. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it chill for about 20 minutes.
Baking the Tartlet Shells
  1. Roll out the chilled dough and gently press it into tartlet pans.
  2. Bake the tartlet shells for about 12 to 15 minutes until golden and fragrant.
Making the Filling
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine blueberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and water. Stir gently until the mixture thickens.
Preparing the Frosting
  1. Beat together the softened cream cheese and unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Once the tartlet shells are cool, fill each with the blueberry mixture.
  2. Pipe the cream cheese frosting on top and garnish with fresh blueberries and a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

For an extra flavorful punch, consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon to the blueberry filling or a touch of zest to the frosting. Store-bought pastry dough is a valid shortcut if you're short on time.
