Brownie Ingredients
  • 1 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla extract
Frosting Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter and cocoa powder until smooth.
  3. Add the flour, salt, and sugar then mix together until dry and crumbly.
  4. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, then mix until smooth.
  5. Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper and pour the batter into the pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Making the Frosting
  1. While the brownies are baking, make the frosting by whisking together the melted butter, milk, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract until thick and spreadable.
  2. Let frosting sit for 15 to 20 minutes before frosting the brownies.
Finishing Touch
  1. Spread frosting over the top of the brownies.
  2. Let cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Slice with a long, sharp knife warmed under hot water for clean edges. Serve slightly chilled or at room temperature.
