Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Mix in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, powdered sugar, salt, and cornstarch (if using).
- Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
Shaping and Baking
- Scoop small balls of dough, about one inch in diameter, and place them on the baking sheets, spaced two inches apart.
- Lightly press each ball with your palm or a fork to create a pattern.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden on the bottom and pale on top.
- Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack before sprinkling with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. They can also be frozen for longer storage.
