  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure it is fully softened for best texture.
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk Approx. 150 g.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Approx. 260 g.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Optional for extra tenderness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Mix in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, powdered sugar, salt, and cornstarch (if using).
  5. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
Shaping and Baking
  1. Scoop small balls of dough, about one inch in diameter, and place them on the baking sheets, spaced two inches apart.
  2. Lightly press each ball with your palm or a fork to create a pattern.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden on the bottom and pale on top.
  4. Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack before sprinkling with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. They can also be frozen for longer storage.
