  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Divide for batter and topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, mixing well.
  5. Fold in the diced apples and half of the caramel sauce.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow to cool before drizzling with the remaining caramel sauce and serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Drizzle extra caramel sauce on top and consider pairing with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For storage, wrap tightly in plastic wrap or keep in an airtight container for up to a week in the refrigerator.
