Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8 inch baking pan by greasing it and lining it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and sugar until blended. Add eggs and whisk them in.
- Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, mixing until just combined.
- Pour brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 10 minutes.
Making the Cheesecake Layer
- In another bowl, beat together softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla extract.
- Pour cheesecake mixture over the cooled brownie base, spreading evenly.
- Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until edges are golden and cheesecake is set.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.
Serving
- Slice into squares, serve with an extra drizzle of caramel, and optionally, a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients and don't rush the chilling process.
