Ingredients
  

Brownie Base
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Cheesecake Layer
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened Room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Toppings
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • Chocolate curls (optional, for garnish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8 inch baking pan by greasing it and lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and sugar until blended. Add eggs and whisk them in.
  3. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, mixing until just combined.
  4. Pour brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 10 minutes.
Making the Cheesecake Layer
  1. In another bowl, beat together softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla extract.
  3. Pour cheesecake mixture over the cooled brownie base, spreading evenly.
  4. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until edges are golden and cheesecake is set.
  5. Allow to cool completely in the pan before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.
Serving
  1. Slice into squares, serve with an extra drizzle of caramel, and optionally, a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients and don't rush the chilling process.
