Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Measure by spooning into the cup and leveling off to avoid a dense loaf.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Optional
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk Can substitute buttermilk for a tangier flavor.
  • 1/4 cup melted butter Brush some on top before baking for a golden crust.
  • 1 large egg
Cheese & Herbs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Use freshly shredded for the best melt and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley Optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder).
  3. Add shredded cheese and stir until evenly distributed.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just combined, but do not overmix.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Let the bread cool, slice, and enjoy warm.

Notes

Store the bread wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 2 days, in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or sliced and frozen for up to 3 months.
