Ingredients
  

For the Cheesecake Layer
  • 2 ounces cream cheese Softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
For the Brownie Layer
  • 1 cup butter Melted
  • 6 ounces unsweetened chocolate Melted
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1/2 tsp vanilla until smooth.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter and unsweetened chocolate until smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1 tsp salt.
  5. Add 4 eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Gradually add 1 1/4 cups flour until just combined.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Pour half of the chocolate batter into a greased pan.
  2. Spread cream cheese mixture over it, then top with remaining chocolate batter.
  3. Spoon cherry pie filling on top.
  4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes.
  5. Chill for 4 hours, slice, and enjoy.

Notes

Slice these brownies into generous squares and serve at cool room temperature or slightly chilled. A dollop of lightly whipped cream, a few fresh cherries, or a fine dusting of cocoa can enhance presentation and flavor.
