Ingredients
  

For the cake
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Ensure it's high quality for best flavor.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature for best results.
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil Can substitute with other oils.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot coffee or hot water Use coffee for richer flavor.
For the ganache
  • 1 cup heavy cream Use fresh cream for best results.
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped Choose high-quality chocolate.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Can substitute with salted butter if needed.
For garnish
  • Chocolate shavings or curls For a decorative finish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and line two 6-inch cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and beat until smooth.
  4. Slowly mix in hot coffee until well combined.
  5. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30–35 minutes.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Ganache Preparation
  1. Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until it simmers, then pour over chopped chocolate.
  2. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir in butter until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Place one cake layer on a plate and spread ganache over the top.
  2. Add the second layer and pour remaining ganache over the top.
  3. Garnish with chocolate shavings or curls.
  4. Allow the cake to set for 20-30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Slice it and serve with coffee or tea. Adding fresh berries or nuts is recommended for extra flair.
