Ingredients

Cake Ingredients
  • 1 box white cake mix plus eggs, water, and oil as directed on box
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • cup vegetable oil or melted butter
Jello Layer Ingredients
  • ½ box (3-ounce) strawberry Jello gelatin
  • ½ box (3-ounce) lime Jello gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water divided
Topping Ingredients
  • 1 tub (8-ounce) Cool Whip whipped topping thawed
  • Holiday sprinkles for decoration

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the white cake mix, eggs, water, and oil (or melted butter). Beat until smooth for about two minutes.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 28-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Once cooled, poke holes evenly over the cake with the handle of a wooden spoon, about 1 inch apart.
Jello Layer
  1. In two small bowls, dissolve the strawberry Jello and lime Jello separately in ½ cup of boiling water each, stirring until completely dissolved.
  2. Spoon both gelatin mixtures over the cake, alternating the red and green to create a festive look.
  3. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours to allow the Jello to set.
Topping and Serving
  1. Spread the thawed Cool Whip evenly over the chilled cake.
  2. Decorate with holiday sprinkles.
  3. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra festive touch, use flavored whipped cream or decorate with fresh fruits. Ensure to poke holes deep enough for the Jello to seep in. You can use different Jello flavors for variations.
