  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1–2 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
Cheesecake Layer Ingredients
  • 16 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Frosting Ingredients
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Cheesecake Layer
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F.
  2. Bake the cheesecake layer for 40–45 minutes until set.
  3. Let it chill completely.
Red Velvet Cake Layer
  1. Increase the oven temperature to 350°F.
  2. Bake the red velvet layers for 25–30 minutes.
  3. Let them cool completely.
Frosting Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
Assembling the Cake
  1. Layer red velvet cake, cheesecake, and cream cheese frosting.
  2. Cover the entire cake with frosting.
  3. Chill for about 1 hour before serving.

Notes

For best result, do not skimp on the chilling time. It helps meld the flavors together. You can also add crushed peppermint on top for a festive touch.
