Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 1 cup melted butter Ensure butter is fully melted for a crumbly base.
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs Provides the base for the bars.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adds sweetness to the crust.
Filling
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk Rich and creamy filling.
  • 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut Adds texture and flavor.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Enhances the flavor.
Topping
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips For a glossy chocolate layer.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream To melt the chocolate.
  • 1 cup toasted coconut flakes (optional) For garnish.
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or almonds (optional) For added crunch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, mix melted butter with graham cracker crumbs and brown sugar.
  2. Press the mixture into a lined 9x13-inch baking pan and bake for 8 minutes.
Making the Filling
  1. In another bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk, shredded coconut, and vanilla extract.
  2. Once the crust is ready, spread this rich mixture over the crust.
  3. Bake for another 20-25 minutes or until the top is lightly golden.
  4. Allow to cool slightly.
Adding the Chocolate Topping
  1. Heat heavy cream in a small saucepan until just hot.
  2. Pour it over chocolate chips, letting it sit for 2 minutes before stirring until smooth.
  3. Spread this glossy chocolate over the coconut layer.
  4. Refrigerate until set.
Serving
  1. When ready to serve, slice into squares and optionally sprinkle with toasted coconut.

Notes

Store the bars in an airtight container. They can be stored at room temperature for a few days or refrigerated for longer freshness. For an added crunch, sprinkle chopped pecans or almonds atop each square.
