Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, mix melted butter with graham cracker crumbs and brown sugar.
- Press the mixture into a lined 9x13-inch baking pan and bake for 8 minutes.
Making the Filling
- In another bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk, shredded coconut, and vanilla extract.
- Once the crust is ready, spread this rich mixture over the crust.
- Bake for another 20-25 minutes or until the top is lightly golden.
- Allow to cool slightly.
Adding the Chocolate Topping
- Heat heavy cream in a small saucepan until just hot.
- Pour it over chocolate chips, letting it sit for 2 minutes before stirring until smooth.
- Spread this glossy chocolate over the coconut layer.
- Refrigerate until set.
Serving
- When ready to serve, slice into squares and optionally sprinkle with toasted coconut.
Notes
Store the bars in an airtight container. They can be stored at room temperature for a few days or refrigerated for longer freshness. For an added crunch, sprinkle chopped pecans or almonds atop each square.
