Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 15 oz box white or vanilla cake mix (plus ingredients on cake mix box)
  • 10 chopped Oreos for folding into the cake batter
  • 8 to 10 chopped Oreos for layering in jars
  • 8 to 10 chopped chocolate chip cookies (any brand) for layering in jars
For the Frosting
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or coffee creamer
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 drop electric blue Americolor gel color
  • 2 drops royal blue Chef Masters gel color
For Decoration
  • 8 candy eyes
  • 2 pieces chocolate chip cookies, cut in half for jar topping

Method
 

Cake Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven and follow the steps on the cake mix box, folding in half of the chopped Oreos before baking.
  2. Let your creation cool for 30 minutes.
Frosting Preparation
  1. While your cake is cooling, mix the butter and shortening until smooth.
  2. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and vanilla.
  3. Pour in the milk and food coloring until fluffy and vibrantly colored.
Assembling the Jars
  1. Layer the cake, frosting, and chopped cookies in mason jars.
  2. Top each jar with a dollop of frosting, two candy eyeballs, and half a chocolate chip cookie.

Notes

Serve chilled or at room temperature. Store in the refrigerator for up to five days. For added fun, use a piping bag when layering frosting.
