Ingredients
  

For the Custard

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, whisk together eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract over low heat until the mixture thickens.
  3. Layer phyllo dough in a baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
  4. Pour the custard over the phyllo layers.
Baking
  1. Bake the cake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
Making Sugar Syrup
  1. In a small saucepan, bring water and sugar to a gentle boil until sugar dissolves.
Final Assembly
  1. Once the cake is baked, pour the syrup over it and let it soak.
  2. Slice and serve with powdered sugar, ice cream, or whipped cream.

Notes

Store any leftovers covered in plastic wrap in the fridge for up to 3 days.
