Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients
  • 1 cup crushed digestive biscuits or graham crumbs
  • 5 tablespoons melted butter For the base
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom (optional) Adds a subtle exotic flavor
Pistachio Layer Ingredients
  • 1 cup raw pistachios Grind into a coarse crumble
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter For the pistachio mixture
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Pinch of salt
Chocolate Layer Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups dark or milk chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter For melting with chocolate
  • 1/4 cup chopped pistachios for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a small square pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the crushed biscuits, melted butter, sugar, and optional cardamom. Press the mixture into the prepared pan to form a firm base.
  3. Chill the base in the refrigerator.
Pistachio Layer
  1. Grind the raw pistachios into a coarse crumble and mix with sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  2. Spread this mixture over the chilled biscuit base.
Chocolate Layer
  1. Melt the chocolate and butter together over gentle heat, stirring until smooth.
  2. Pour this chocolate mixture over the pistachio layer and spread evenly.
  3. Sprinkle chopped pistachios on top.
Chilling
  1. Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least two hours to firm up.
Serving
  1. Once set, cut into squares or bars and serve at room temperature with tea or coffee.

Notes

Store any leftover bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for freshness. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
