- Place the flour and salt into a bowl.
- Rub in the butter until it resembles crumbs.

Cooking
- In a large saucepan, combine all the caramel sauce ingredients and stir constantly until boiling.
- Reduce heat to a simmer and drop dollops of dumpling dough into the simmering sauce.
- Cover the pan and let cook for about 20 minutes.
- Serve warm and optionally top with ice cream or whipped cream.
