For the Cookie Bars
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Make sure the butter is melted for the right texture.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed Brown sugar adds richness and moisture.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Can substitute with 1/4 cup applesauce for a vegan version.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Measure accurately for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup M&M candies Can customize with different flavors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the M&M candies.
  7. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are light golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

Best served at room temperature. Can be paired with milk or vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container; lasts up to a week at room temperature or two weeks in the refrigerator.
