  • Zest of 2 oranges Freshly grated for maximum flavor.
  • 3 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C. Prepare a 20 cm round cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over gently simmering water, stirring until glossy. Allow to cool slightly.
Mixing
  1. Whisk together eggs and sugar until pale and slightly thick.
  2. Add vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice to the egg mixture and blend well.
  3. Combine the melted chocolate with the egg mixture, stirring until fully mixed.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder and salt, mixing until incorporated.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top.
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the center is set yet tender.
  3. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before slicing.
Serving
  1. Serve with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, paired with coffee or tea.

Notes

Be careful not to overbake the cake. Use high-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor. Experiment with additional zest or juices for unique flavors.
