Ingredients
  

Cake Ingredients
  • 15.25 ounce white cake mix One box
  • 1.5 ounce strawberry gelatin Approximately 3 tablespoons
  • 1.5 ounce blue raspberry gelatin Approximately 3 tablespoons
Topping
  • 16 ounce whipped topping For layering
  • to taste Patriotic sprinkles Optional garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare your 9-inch cake pans with cooking spray.
  2. Follow the instructions on the cake mix box, mixing in 1 cup of water, 3 egg whites, and 1/2 cup of vegetable oil.
  3. Split the cake batter into two bowls, mixing in 3 tablespoons of strawberry gelatin into one and 3 tablespoons of blue raspberry gelatin into the other.
Baking
  1. Pour each batter into separate cake pans and bake for around 25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Let the cakes cool before crumbling each into separate bowls.
Layering
  1. Layer blue cake crumbs and whipped topping in mason jars, finishing with whipped topping and patriotic sprinkles.

Notes

Keep the cake jars stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can freeze some layers for later use, just thaw in the fridge before serving. For extra flavor, consider adding a layer of fruit preserves.
