Wet Ingredients
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup champagne (cold or room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup Simple Truth Orange Juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract (optional)
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • Zest of 1 orange orange
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Simple Truth Orange Juice
  • 1 teaspoon champagne
  • Orange zest (for garnish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the beaten egg, champagne, sour cream, orange juice, orange extract (if using), oil, and orange zest.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Transfer the batter into a greased 8 by 4 by 2-inch bread pan.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes, until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  2. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
Making the Glaze
  1. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, orange juice, and champagne together until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread and decorate with orange zest.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing the batter. This bread can be enhanced with a variety of citrus or berries.
