Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay!
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean, a few moist crumbs are fine.
- Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Serve delicious on its own or topped with ice cream or whipped cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
