  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour gluten-free, if necessary
  • 1 cup granulated sweetener of choice
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup water

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line an 8-inch springform pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sweetener, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt, mixing gently.
  3. Add the apple cider vinegar, vanilla extract, and applesauce to the dry ingredients.
  4. Pour the water over the mixture and mix until a smooth batter forms.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan, smoothing the top.
Baking
  1. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.
  2. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
  1. Slice the cake and serve with fresh berries or coconut whipped cream, if desired.
