Brioche Ingredients
  • 1 lb brioche dough Fresh or store-bought
  • 1 cup vanilla custard Can be store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Your choice of chocolate
  • 1 large egg For egg wash
  • 1 tbsp milk For egg wash
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Optional
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Optional, enhances flavor
  • 1 pinch salt Balances sweetness
  • powdered sugar for dusting Optional for serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the brioche dough into 12 equal portions and roll each piece into a ball before flattening into a disk.
  3. Spoon 1 tablespoon of vanilla custard in the center of each disk and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips.
  4. Bring the edges together and pinch to seal, creating a snug embrace for the filling.
Baking
  1. Place crafted brioches on the baking sheet and brush with an egg wash made from the beaten egg and milk.
  2. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until golden brown.
  3. Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for a couple of days. For longer storage, freeze individual brioches wrapped in parchment paper.
