Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Base
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the Maple Icing
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon milk or heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until a soft dough forms.
Baking
  1. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet and slightly flatten each cookie with the back of a spoon.
  2. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
Making the Icing
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.
  2. Spread or drizzle the maple icing over the cooled cookies and top with chopped nuts or white chocolate drizzle if desired.
  3. Let the icing set for 15–20 minutes before serving.

Notes

To store, keep cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. Uniced cookies can be frozen for up to three months.
