Preparation
  1. Prepare a frozen or refrigerated pie crust.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and sugar.
  3. Add the egg yolks to the dry ingredients.
  4. Gradually incorporate the milk, stirring to create a smooth mixture.
Cooking
  1. Transfer the mixture to a medium saucepan and place over medium heat.
  2. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens into a velvety filling.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the filling into the baked pie crust.
Cooling
  1. Let the pie cool in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
