Ingredients
  

For the tart
  • 4 pieces ripe pears, peeled, cored, and halved Choose ripe but firm pears
  • 1 cup sugar For caramelizing
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For flavor
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed Alternatives include pie crust

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add sugar and stir until it becomes a smooth caramel, light golden brown.
  4. Carefully add the pear halves to the skillet, cut side down. Cook for about 10 minutes, until softened and slightly golden.
  5. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry and place it over the pears, tucking the edges down.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
  2. Let cool for 10 minutes, then carefully flip onto a serving plate.
  3. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven before serving.
