Ingredients
  

Base and Topping
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
Apple Filling
  • 3 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (about 3 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce Use generously
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  3. Stir in the flour until the mixture turns crumbly. Press about two-thirds of this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg. Spread this apple mixture evenly over the crust.
  5. Drizzle the salted caramel sauce generously over the apples.
  6. Crumble the remaining flour mixture on top to create the crumble finish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are soft.
  2. Once baked, let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or dusted with powdered sugar. Store in an airtight container for up to three days or freeze for later enjoyment.
