Method
Preparation
- Dice the onion into small pieces.
- In a large skillet, cook the onion and ground beef (or turkey/chicken) over medium-high heat until browned and the onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain any excess grease and add the barbecue sauce to the skillet, stirring to coat the meat evenly.
Baking Garlic Bread
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with foil.
- Place the frozen garlic bread on the sheet and bake for 5-8 minutes until lightly toasted.
Assembly
- Remove the garlic bread from the oven and spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Return to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to restore crispiness. For an extra kick, consider adding spices such as paprika or cayenne pepper to the meat mixture. Experiment with cheese combinations for different flavors.
