Preparation
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into squares or rectangles.
- Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture and some strawberries in the center of each square.
- Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges with a fork, if desired.
- Brush the surface with the beaten egg and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Baking
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees C (400 degrees F) for 15-20 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Dust with powdered sugar once cooled, and serve warm with whipped cream or on their own.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. Refrigerate for longer storage, but note that the pastry may lose some crispiness. Reheat in a warm oven to regain crunch.
