Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries Choose firm and bright strawberries for optimal flavor.
  • 18 large strawberries These will be transformed into the cookie trees.
  • 24 ounces dark green candy melts Melt the candy for coating the strawberries.
  • 1 package frosted oatmeal cookies These serve as the base for the strawberry trees.
  • ΒΌ cup multi-colored nonpareils For sprinkling on the dipped strawberries.
  • 18 pieces yellow star candies To top the cherries, adding a fun decoration.

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse the fresh strawberries gently with cool water and pat them dry.
  2. Slice the stems off the strawberries to create a stable base for the cookies.
Melting Candy
  1. Melt the dark green candy melts in a double boiler set over simmering water, stirring until smooth.
  2. Remove from heat, wiping the bottom of the pan to remove any water.
Dipping and Assembling
  1. Dip each strawberry into the melted candy, allowing excess candy to drip off.
  2. Set the dipped strawberries on the oatmeal cookies, optionally adding a dollop of melted candy on the cookie first.
  3. Sprinkle nonpareils over the dipped strawberries and top with a yellow star candy.
  4. If the candy hardens too fast, reheat gently to keep it workable.

Notes

Store the cookies in an airtight container, separating layers with parchment paper. They are best enjoyed within the first couple of days, though they can remain fresh for up to five days when stored correctly.
