Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.25 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (pureed, reserve some for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Toppings
  • whipped cream for serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, strawberry puree, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy.
Cooking
  1. Spray the waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour the recommended amount of batter onto the hot waffle iron.
  2. Close and cook until the waffles are golden brown, usually about 4-5 minutes.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream if desired.

Notes

For fluffy waffles, do not overmix the batter. Using ripe strawberries enhances flavor. Cool cooked waffles on a wire rack to avoid sogginess.
