Ingredients
  

Icing Ingredients
  • 2.25 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 0.5 teaspoon clear vanilla flavoring The clearer the vanilla, the better the flavor.
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk Adjust for desired consistency.
  • gel food coloring Optional, allows for creative colors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar, corn syrup, clear vanilla, almond extract, and 2 tablespoons of milk together until smooth.
  2. Divide the icing among four small bowls and add three to five drops of gel food color to each bowl, mixing well.
  3. Pour your colored icing into Ziploc bags or piping bags for easy decorating.
  4. Let the iced cookies set on a tray for 12-24 hours to harden.
  5. If the icing is too runny, add more powdered sugar; if too thick, thin it out with additional milk.

Notes

Store any leftover icing in an airtight container in the fridge. Bring it to room temperature and remix with milk if necessary.
