  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature) Softened to achieve a smooth consistency.
  • 1/2 tsp orange extract Enhances the orange flavor.
  • 1 tsp grated orange peel Freshly zested for best flavor.
  • 1-2 drops orange gel coloring Optional for vibrant color.
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar (sifted) Measure after sifting for consistency.

Preparation
  1. Zest the orange to release its fragrance and essence.
  2. Sift the confectioners’ sugar for a smooth mixture.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  4. Add the orange extract and zest, mixing until combined.
  5. If desired, add orange gel coloring and stir to incorporate.
  6. Gradually add the sifted confectioners’ sugar in three parts, mixing well after each addition.
  7. Roll the mixture into 1/2-inch balls and flatten them with a fork on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Refrigerate for one hour to set.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. These mints can also be frozen for up to three months.
