Preparation
- Zest the orange to release its fragrance and essence.
- Sift the confectioners’ sugar for a smooth mixture.
- In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Add the orange extract and zest, mixing until combined.
- If desired, add orange gel coloring and stir to incorporate.
- Gradually add the sifted confectioners’ sugar in three parts, mixing well after each addition.
- Roll the mixture into 1/2-inch balls and flatten them with a fork on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Refrigerate for one hour to set.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. These mints can also be frozen for up to three months.
