Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add melted butter, salt, and egg to the mixture. Stir to combine.
- Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls.
- Place the balls onto a greased baking pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with soups, salads, or spreads like honey butter or jam. To store leftover rolls, place them in a plastic bag or an airtight container. Keep them at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week. Freeze for up to 3 months.
