Method
Preparing the Mixture
- In a pan, combine the condensed milk, butter, and strawberry gelatin. Mix well until everything is completely dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to low heat, stirring constantly. Keep an eye on it; you’ll know it’s ready when it starts to pull away from the bottom of the pan.
- If you choose to use heavy cream, add it now and continue stirring for another two minutes.
Cooling and Shaping
- Turn off the heat and transfer the mixture to a greased plate. Cover it with plastic wrap, ensuring that it touches the mixture directly to prevent a crust from forming.
- Let it cool completely before proceeding.
- Once cool, grease your hands with a little butter and roll the mixture into small balls. Roll these balls in pink crystal sugar or sprinkles for an extra burst of delight.
- Finally, place the finished candies in small paper cups and prepare to serve them to adoring friends and family.
Notes
Store any leftover candies in an airtight container at room temperature. If you live in a particularly warm climate, refrigeration is advised to maintain their delightful texture. They will typically stay fresh for up to a week.
