Ingredients
  

Custard Base
  • 2 cups milk Use any type of milk, including almond or coconut milk.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 2 pieces eggs Ensure they are at room temperature for better blending.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances the flavors.
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla For flavoring.
  • to taste Ground nutmeg For sprinkling on top when serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small pan, heat the milk and sugar together over a gentle flame. Stir gently until the milk begins to simmer and bubble.
  2. While the milk is warming, combine the eggs, salt, and vanilla in a separate bowl. Whisk until beautifully blended and fluffy.
Cooking
  1. Remove the milk mixture from heat. Slowly pour a small amount of warm milk into the egg mixture, stirring immediately to temper the eggs.
  2. Pour the remaining warm milk into the egg mixture and blend until smooth.
Serving
  1. Pour the custard into mugs and sprinkle lightly with nutmeg before serving.

Notes

Custard can be served on its own or over pie. Store leftover custard in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Stir gently or warm slightly before enjoying again.
